Water Heater Safety
- If steam or boiling water ever comes out of the valve or the hot water faucets, shut the heater off at once and call Plumbing 911.
- If you ever hear a rumbling sound, assume the heater is overheating, turn it off and call Plumbing 911.
- Keep the water temperature between 120° to 130°. Check it with a thermometer held under the tap. Higher temperatures speed corrosion.
- If you sense a gas leak, turn the gas shut off valve to close and contact your gas utility company or Plumbing 911 for further investigation.
